30 YEARS OF TKDT – THE FOUNDING & MISSION OF TAEKWONDO TIMES
MAY 26, 2011
By Editor of Tae Kwon Do Times
| TaeKwonDo Times magazine was founded by Grandmaster Chung E. Kim, with the premier magazine was first printed in spring 1981—30 years ago. In 1983, Chung E. Kim went into partnership with Dr. Yang Ahn, Sang Ku Shin, Jung Nam Lee, and Woojin Jung and TKDT became nationally distributed. From the original five partners, three have passed on. Today, TKDT has correspondents in over 150 counties and is read in over 192 nations around the world.
| In 2005, Grandmaster Woojin Jung became publisher. As an active participant in the magazine’s publication from the beginning, Grandmaster Jung humbly accepted the position and strives to carry out the magazine’s mission at every opportunity, making TKD Times an exchange of philosophy, culture, technique, curriculum and the Tenets of TKD for all martial arts. To him, publishing TKDT isn’t about making money, but instead, he carries the fire within him to spread the martial art spirit throughout the world.
| The 30 Year Anniversary of TKDT will be celebrated with a sold out banquet of 100 martial artists coming together to congratulate the publication on its success on May 14, 2011. TKD Times would like to thank all of our readers and fellow martial artists for your committed and continued support. Please feel free to wish us well in our comment area. Thank you so much.
