JUNG FAMILY FOUNDATION HELPS SMILE TRAIN PROVIDE OVER 125,000 SURGERIES
JUN 25, 2013
| The Jung Family Foundation recently sent a donation out to Smile Train, a charity that helps children receive free cleft lip and palate surgeries. This organization is able to give free surgeries to children who can’t afford them through the generosity of donations from people like the Jung family. Smile Train was able to provide over 125, 000 cleft surgeries this past year, and there are over 185 hospitals working in more than 87 countries to provide this type of care to children in need.
| Smile Train also funds many medical conferences, so that doctors can learn new skills and techniques to help improve cleft surgeries and care. These conferences are a place where medical professionals can get together and share ideas to better improve the quality of cleft surgeries. Having safe and efficient cleft surgeries is important; and these conferences let these doctors talk about techniques that have worked for them, and how to better prepare and train for cleft surgery.
| Last year, Smile Train launched their brand new website www.smiletrain.org, and since then, they have received more than 84,000 visitors to their website, making it the most popular cleft website in the world! The Smile Train’s website has various articles on cleft-related medical content, making it a great place for surgeons and other medical professionals dealing with cleft surgery to use as a reference. Smile Train has a goal to reach a record number of cleft surgeries, and to continue to grow and expand as a charity. Without generous donors like the Jung family, this wouldn’t be possible.
